Teaching younger kids to bake

Every weekend I get to teach a baking class for younger kids. I picked kids younger than me on purpose, because I really wanted to learn how to lead a group and guide people through something step by step.

Before each class I make a lesson plan. We always start by looking at the recipe and the steps together, because I want them to see that being organized is a big part of baking. Then we get to the fun stuff - decorating, working with fondant, and trying new things.

The kids have been anywhere from 6 to 11 years old, and it's so fun watching each of them find their own style. My favorite part is getting to know them and seeing them get more confident. Nothing beats watching a kid get excited about something they made all by themselves.
